BadgerCare Plus Exceeds Budget by $25 Million

The Wisconsin State Journal recently reported that the expansion of the state’s BadgerCare program that Governor Jim Doyle said would not cost taxpayers more money is projected to cost another $25 million this year.

Last year, Governor Jim Doyle promoted expansion of the state’s BadgerCare plus program to include families of four making up to $63,600 a year as well as pregnant women making up to $51,500, farmers and self-employed parents.

Senate Democrats $15 Billion Health Care Plan

Democrats passed a budget with more than $18 billion dollars in new taxes. $15 billion dollars of that money would come out of our pay checks to fund a government run health care plan. The plan covers nearly everyone, including illegal aliens, those who don't work and aren't Wisconsin residents.

The State Senate's $15 billion health care plan creates so many new taxes, that Wisconsin will become the highest taxed state in the country, and the Wall Street Journal reported that the plan will represent an average of $510 a month in higher taxes for every Wisconsin worker.

The plan was removed from the budget by Assembly Republicans but Senate Democrats promise to bring the plan next year and several Assembly Democrats have also pledged their support for the plan.

$418 Million Tax Promises to Raise Health Care Costs

The Governor’s budget proposed raising taxes on hospital care by $360.00 per inpatient admitted. The plan was supported by every Democrat in both house of the legislature who vowed to bring the proposal back next year.

The sick tax was opposed by the Republican led Assembly who hold a mere 2 seat majority going into the 2008 elections.
